The 15th annual Gimli Ice Festival takes place in Gimli, Manitoba, from March 6 to March 8, 2026. This community event brings outdoor activities to the frozen lake and downtown area to celebrate the winter season.

While the festival begins on Friday, the main public events happen on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can watch ‘Fire on Ice’ car racing on Lake Winnipeg, join the ‘Frozen Fish Toss,’ or enter the ‘Hailey’s Way’ Fishing Derby. Most interactive activities require a five-dollar festival pass to attend.

A fireworks display will happen at the Gimli Harbour on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 7:00 pm. Event organizers are currently looking for more than 100 volunteers to help manage the weekend and keep the racing events safe.

The Rural Municipality of Gimli has introduced new parking rules that will affect the busy festival weekend. According to the municipal by-laws, there will be strict enforcement for parking in the downtown and harbour zones to manage the extra traffic.
