Residents in Gimli, Manitoba, are preparing for a sharp cold snap this weekend as temperatures are set to drop well below the seasonal average. According to Environment Canada, the community will experience cold morning air and a deep freeze on Sunday night that could affect outdoor plans and home heating.

The cold weather started on Friday, March 13, 2026, with a morning wind chill that reached -25. Forecasters expect similar conditions for Saturday, March 14, 2026, with another wind chill of -25 in the morning followed by a slightly warmer afternoon wind chill of -16.

The most significant drop in temperature is expected on the night of Sunday, March 15, 2026, when the low will reach -28°C. Local residents should be aware of the sudden change, as these temperatures are much colder than the typical mid-March lows of around -11°C.

While the cold snap is intense, it is expected to be brief. Temperatures in the region are forecasted to bounce back quickly, potentially reaching a high of +5°C by the middle of next week.
