Dog owners in Goderich, Ontario, have until February 28, 2026, to renew their dog licences before a $20 late fee is applied. The 2025 licences expired on December 31, 2025, and the town provides a two-month grace period each year to give residents time to update their records.

According to a Dec. 16, 2025 notice on Exeter Today (90.5 myFM), registering pets on time helps local owners avoid extra costs and ensures the community has accurate licensing information for animal control. The town says licensing revenue helps fund municipal by-law enforcement, and the registry helps return lost dogs to their owners.

Under the Town of Goderich’s Animal Control By-law (By-law 63 of 2017) and the 2025 Consolidated Fee By-law, the standard fee for a tag is $20 for spayed or neutered dogs and $45 for intact dogs. Owners who miss the Feb. 28, 2026 deadline will be charged a $20 late fee per dog — for example, a spayed/neutered dog’s registration would rise from $20 to $40, and an intact dog’s from $45 to $65.

Residents can pay for tags through the Town of Goderich online portal, in person at Town Hall (57 West Street, Goderich, ON N7A 2K5), or by mail (cheque payable to the Town of Goderich). For questions about the renewal process or payment options, contact Town Hall at 519-524-8344.
