Official weather alerts for Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, have been lifted as of February 13, 2026, following the end of a freezing drizzle advisory. While formal warnings have concluded, residents should prepare for a mix of rain and snow along with strong winds throughout the day.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, west winds are expected to increase to 30 km/h with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h this morning. There is also a 40 per cent chance of flurries, which is expected to turn into a mix of rain showers and flurries by noon.
The combination of wind and mixed precipitation may make local roads and sidewalks slippery. Drivers are encouraged to check 511NL for the latest highway conditions and allow for extra travel time during their commute.
Recent infrastructure work by the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor may also impact certain areas. Crews cleaned out water pipes on February 12 and repaired a broken water pipe on February 11 near Preston Place and Whitmore Street, which could contribute to slick surfaces in those neighbourhoods.
Residents should secure any loose outdoor items that could be blown around by the gusty winds. With temperatures expected to hover near 2°C, surfaces may freeze and thaw quickly as the weather changes.
