Sylvia Jones, the MPP for Dufferin–Caledon, announced on February 2, 2026 that the provincial government is providing new funding to upgrade water and wastewater systems in Grand Valley, Ontario. The announcement was made as part of the province’s Housing‑Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF).
The investment will target Grand Valley’s Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) and associated trunk sewer infrastructure to reduce the risk of service interruptions and health advisories such as boil‑water notices, and to support additional housing connections.
Municipal officials have said the upgrades are necessary because the town’s WPCP has been reaching capacity. By expanding the plant and upgrading trunk sewers, the town can advance local construction projects that were constrained by existing sewer allocation limits.
The funding is part of a multi‑billion‑dollar provincial effort to modernize municipal water and wastewater systems and help fast‑growing smaller communities manage the infrastructure costs associated with new housing. Local officials say the project will also help protect the Grand River watershed and support sustainable growth in the town.
