Construction at the Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre in Grande Prairie can move forward again following a recent court decision to remove a builder’s lien from the project, according to a Facebook post from the Veterans Memorial Park page.
The Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre, located at 10121-93 Street on Treaty 8 Territory, is owned and operated by the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association. The project sits on land donated by the Army Navy Airforce Veterans Club 389. Since its inception in 2016, the site has served as a place to honour the military history of the region.
Renee Charbonneau, the project lead and executive director of the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association, has overseen the development of the memorial for over seven years. The initiative has successfully raised more than $750,000 through various grants, sponsorships, and community donations. Recent additions to the site include the Women of War Memorial, which was unveiled on March 7, 2025.
Jeremy Hall works alongside Charbonneau to manage fundraising and community awareness for the gardens. The site continues to expand its features to include various monuments and thematic gardens that recognize regional veterans. With the legal hold now removed, the organization is prepared to continue its work on the memorial grounds.
