Fists will fly this Saturday as the Extreme Fighting Challenge returns to action for the first time in nearly seven years, bringing a full card of kickboxing and mixed martial arts to Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Doors open at 6 p.m. on June 13 inside Evaskevich Hall at the TARA Energy Services Centre, with more than 20 bouts scheduled to start at 7 p.m. The event features both amateur and professional fighters competing in kickboxing and MMA.
Headlining the night is a 175-pound matchup between Grande Prairie’s own Ian Stoby and Vancouver-based Ash “Smash” Mashreghi. Stoby went 5-0 as an amateur before turning professional, where he now holds a 3-0 record, and was Canada’s second-ranked amateur middleweight. Mashreghi counters with a 10-10 professional mark and ranks among the country’s top pro welterweights.
Tickets range from $50 for bleacher seats to $1,200 for a ringside table of eight, with individual ringside and floor seats also available. The promotion, sponsored by Envirohome, Mahood BJJ and MMA, and Gladiators Martial Arts Academy, last held an event in 2019 in Vernon, B.C.
The fight card joins a bustling summer lineup at Evergreen Park. The Europa Super Circus wraps up its run this week, the Grande Prairie Traditional Pow Wow follows on June 20 and 21, and The Horses @ Evergreen Park kicks off its weekly racing schedule July 5 at J.D.A. Raceway.
