The City of Grande Prairie has moved its annual Easter Eggstravaganza indoors to the Grande Prairie Museum due to snowy conditions. The event, which takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 9:00am to 4:30pm, was originally slated for the nearby outdoor grounds.
To ensure the event could proceed safely, organizers replaced the traditional outdoor egg hunt with an indoor scavenger hunt. Children ages two to 10 will now search for paper eggs hidden throughout the museum gallery. Other festivities, including cookie decorating, Easter crafts, and a bunny photo booth, will also be held inside the facility located at 10329 101 Avenue in Muskoseepi Park.
The event is divided into 30-minute time slots to accommodate families. Pre-registration is required, with tickets costing $8 per child, while parents are admitted for free. Eastlink, the event’s long-standing presenting sponsor, is providing prizes for the colouring contest held during the day.
Mayor Jackie Clayton noted that these types of spring events serve as a meaningful reminder of the importance of community traditions for local families. The Grande Prairie Museum, which is home to a Heritage Village founded in 1974, remains the venue for all scheduled activities.
