Residents and business owners in Grande Prairie can now apply for dust suppression treatment on gravel roads adjacent to their properties. The City of Grande Prairie is accepting applications for the service from April 13 through May 1, 2026.
The program provides a calcium chloride treatment, applied at a width of approximately 7 metres, to help reduce gravel dust throughout the spring and summer months. The treatment is provided on an as-needed basis for those who opt into the service.
For the 2026 season, the cost is set at $500 for residential properties and $750 for commercial properties per 100 metres of road. This is an increase from the 2025 rates of $440 and $660 respectively. Applicants must request a minimum of 100 metres of treatment.
Applications must be submitted with full payment through the online form available on the city website. Residents may also pay by cash, debit, or cheque in person at City Hall or the City Service Centre. Applications are considered complete only once payment is received, and fees are non-refundable once the treatment has been applied. Residents with questions can contact AccessGP at 311.
This program is separate from the dust control services managed by the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 for properties outside city limits. The dust suppression initiative is currently running alongside the city’s 24-hour seasonal weight restrictions on gravel roads, which were implemented on April 4, 2026, to help protect road integrity during the spring thaw.
