Community groups and local businesses in Grande Prairie, Alberta, can now sign up to participate in the annual Stompede Parade. The parade is the traditional kickoff event for the five-day Grande Prairie Stompede, which is set to run from May 27 to May 31, 2026, at Evergreen Park.
Those interested in joining the procession can submit their entries through the official event website. Organizers are accepting registrations for both horse-drawn and motorized floats to be featured in the parade, which begins at 12 p.m. on May 27. The route will travel from Hillside School on 95 Street, move west along 100 Avenue, and turn onto 130 Street toward Muskoseepi Park.
To further celebrate the start of the festivities, the City of Grande Prairie will host a free community pancake breakfast on May 27. Residents are invited to attend the event from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the H.A. Rice Plaza located at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.
The Stompede has served as a community staple since 1977 and typically draws up to 50,000 attendees. As a significant event for the region, it also marks the opening venue for the World Professional Chuckwagon Association season. The Grande Prairie Stompede Association, currently led by President Trevor Denis, oversees the various activities, including the rodeo and chuckwagon races that follow the opening parade.
