Highway 11 in Gravenhurst, Ontario, was fully reopened after a southbound collision at the Highway 118 interchange (Interchange 182) on the afternoon of January 27, 2026, temporarily closing one southbound lane and the right shoulder.

Ontario 511 confirmed the scene was cleared and all lanes were reopened by the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police, Bracebridge Detachment, responded to the multi-vehicle collision, which occurred during a week of difficult winter weather across the Muskoka region.

While the official cause remains under investigation, local weather alerts and stations reported blowing snow and black ice in the area at the time of the crash. The weekend of Jan. 23 and the week that followed produced volatile winter conditions across Muskoka, contributing to multiple incidents along the Highway 11 corridor.

The Highway 11/118 interchange is a busy split where sudden lane changes are common; the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has been carrying out interim improvements in the Gravenhurst area as part of work to move the corridor toward fully controlled access (including permanent closures of some at‑grade entrances) to improve safety in winter conditions.

Local road crews and the Town of Bracebridge Road Operations remind drivers to slow down and allow extra space when visibility is poor or roads are slippery.
