The Niagara Regional Police Service is asking people in Grimsby for help after a fatal tent fire in a St. Catharines park was officially ruled a homicide. Investigators are looking for anyone who might have seen something or captured video footage on the morning of February 10, 2026.

Patrol officers first discovered the large fire at about 3:15 a.m. in a wooded area of Mountain Locks Park, located near Glendale Avenue in St. Catharines. The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Kenneth Dombroskie, a man who did not have a permanent home.

The Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit took over the case on February 13, 2026, and is now asking for dashcam or home security footage from regional commuters traveling between municipalities. Detectives are specifically looking for recordings captured between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on the day of the fire.

The regional police department recently added three new officers to its team that handles the most serious crimes to help manage a rise in cases across Niagara. Investigators are currently working with the Ontario Fire Marshall to figure out exactly how the fire started.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009417. Tips can also be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers to help with the ongoing investigation.
