Wellington County Solid Waste Services relocated its Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Depot to the Aberfoyle Waste Facility, 6922 Concession 4 in Puslinch, Ontario, for January 1–31, 2024. Wellington County residents near Guelph can use the depot to safely dispose of items like paint, household batteries (e‑mobility/EV batteries are not accepted), and chemicals without tipping fees; City of Guelph addresses are not eligible.

The depot was open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Residents may drop off aerosol cans, antifreeze, household batteries, fertilizers, fuel, motor oil, paint, pesticides and propane tanks up to 30 pounds. Maximum quantity limits apply (typically up to 25 L or 25 kg per vehicle per visit); some items have specific limits. Service is free for Wellington County residents; City of Guelph addresses are not eligible.

“The mobile depot will rotate between the county’s six waste facilities, giving people a year-round option to drop off all of their household hazardous waste items,” said former Warden George Bridge, describing the monthly schedule designed to ensure fair access. The move provided a closer option for those living south of Guelph and nearby townships.

There is no public transit to the site and residents must drive to the transfer station, where ample parking is available. Attendants direct traffic and residents were asked to remain in their vehicles while unloading. For more details, see the county notice.
