The City of Guelph, Ontario, is planning to build two new community gardens to help residents grow their own food and meet their neighbours. One garden will be located at Courtney, Goines and Malott Park, while the second is planned for Exhibition Park.
Residents can share their thoughts on the design and programming of these new spaces through an online survey until February 27, 2026. The city is looking for feedback to ensure the gardens meet the needs of the people living in those areas.
The garden at Courtney, Goines and Malott Park is expected to be operational this spring. The Guelph Tool Library will manage the garden at Exhibition Park, with development at that site set to begin in the fall of 2026.
The Exhibition Park site will be part of the GROW Garden project, which donates half of everything it grows to local food banks and food security programs. These two new locations will join the city’s expanding network, which as of 2023 included 45 gardens and 350 individual garden plots.
