The Village of Haines Junction Council has organized two separate meetings for April 8, 2026, creating a break from the usual meeting routine for the community in Yukon.
A Special Council Meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by a Regular Council Meeting at 7:45 p.m. While council typically meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, holding two sessions back-to-back on a single evening is an unusual step for the local government. Residents are invited to participate in these meetings by attending in person at the Council Chambers in the Haines Junction Convention Centre, or by joining through Zoom or telephone.
The council, led by Mayor Diane Strand and Councillors Debbie Busche, Sydney Mackinnon, Rob McPhie, and Bruce Sundbo, regularly addresses a wide range of municipal business. For those unable to attend the proceedings live, the village has made audio recordings available following meetings since July 2025.
