Starting April 1, 2026, the Haines Junction Community Library is set to enhance its book-sharing services with a more frequent delivery schedule. The initiative will increase the speed at which residents can access titles from across the territory, with materials from other library branches delivered to the local branch twice a week.
By working more closely with the Yukon Public Libraries network, the local branch aims to provide seamless access to the territory’s entire collection. This expansion of the existing inter-library loan system allows readers to browse a much larger catalog from home or at the library desk without the branch needing additional shelf space.
The library, located in the James Smith Building at 112 Haines Road, will continue to provide its standard services, including free Wi-Fi, public computer access, and printing. While the library is situated on the second floor, patrons should note that the building’s elevator is currently out of service.
These more frequent deliveries are intended to offer a more reliable way for the Haines Junction community to access information and entertainment throughout the year.
