The Village of Haines Junction is looking for a volunteer to coordinate this year’s Pine Lake Trail Care Day. The municipality issued a call for help on May 13, 2026, to organize the event, which aims to prepare local paths for the summer season.
The Pine Lake Trail is a 6.8-kilometre paved pathway that connects the community to the Pine Lake Campground. As part of the Trans Canada Trail network, the path serves as a popular route for residents and is located within the traditional territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations.
To support the cleanup efforts, the village has secured a $2,500 grant through a national program managed by the Trans Canada Trail. Haines Junction has successfully hosted similar trail maintenance events in the past, with previous efforts occurring in 2022 and 2024.
