The Bluewater District School Board is asking Hanover, Ontario residents to share their thoughts on the upcoming 2026-27 school year budget through an online survey. The public consultation started on February 4, 2026, and gives parents, students, and community members a chance to identify which education programs matter most to them.
This budget planning directly affects John Diefenbaker Senior School, which serves approximately 800 students in Grades 7 through 12. Funding decisions will influence local school programming, including the Trojan athletic teams and five Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs focused on manufacturing, construction, health and wellness, transportation, and information and communications technology.
The board is currently working to manage a surge in student enrolment that was reported in October 2025. AJ Keene, the Director of Education, and the Board of Trustees will use the survey results to help make decisions on resource allocation and school busing logistics.
Residents have until March 4, 2026, to submit their feedback through the online survey. The board uses this annual process to ensure that the final budget aligns with the needs of local families and the current growth in the student population.
