Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for Hanover, Ontario, on the morning of March 20, 2026, as icy conditions are expected to create hazardous travel for residents. The warning also covers Dundalk and Southern Grey County, as the ice is likely to cause slippery conditions during the morning rush hour.

The weather service forecasts an ice build-up of 2 to 5 mm before the freezing rain changes over to regular rain. This transition is expected to happen later in the morning when temperatures rise above the freezing mark.

Environment Canada notes that local roads and walkways will likely become very slippery, and the ice build-up could also lead to localized power outages. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution while commuting or walking on untreated surfaces until the ice melts.
