The Town of Hanover has launched a “Downtown Reimagining” initiative for its core area, inviting residents to share ideas, volunteer as “Community Connectors” and attend a public Idea Jam to shape land use, streetscape and business support. The announcement went live on December 19, 2025, and marks the first step in a council-supported effort to keep downtown vibrant and welcoming.
Led by Economic Development Manager April Marshall in partnership with the Hanover Downtown Improvement Area and consulting firm J.L. Richards & Associates, the project kicks off with a research and collaboration phase. The team will use public feedback to develop a four-pillar strategy covering Design, Promotion, Economic Vitality and Organization, with a final action plan due for Town/Council approval in May 2026.
Residents who want to serve as Community Connectors—local volunteers who gather informal feedback from neighbours—can sign up by January 5, 2026. Applications and details (including contact emails) are available on the town’s Downtown Plan page.
A public Idea Jam is scheduled for January 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Hall in the Town of Hanover Civic Centre. Participants will take part in an Idea Jamming workshop to collaborate and refine the vision for downtown Hanover. See the Downtown Plan page or the Town news release for details on how to register for the event.
Residents unable to attend the Idea Jam can still share ideas via the Downtown Plan page or by emailing abucking@jlrichards.ca or amarshall@hanover.ca. Further information on how to contribute ideas is provided in the town news release and on the downtown plan website.
