The Town of Hay River Recreation Department is opening registration for summer swimming lessons at the Don Stewart Aquatic Centre, with Premium Members able to sign up starting August 10 at 10:00 AM and the general public on August 11. The lessons will run from August 17 to 27, 2026.
Families can choose from the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life programs, including Preschool for ages 3 to 5 at a cost of $63, and Swimmer levels for ages 5 to 12 at $69.50. The aquatic centre also offers Parent and Tot, Adult Swimmer, and Canadian Swim Patrol programs for those looking for other options.
Parents can register in person at the Hay River Community Centre, located at 79 Woodland Drive, or by calling 867-874-6522. The facility features an 8 by 25 metre four-lane lap pool, a leisure pool, a kiddie pool, and a 150-foot indoor water slide, making it a popular destination for local families.
Children aged 6 and under must be within arms reach of a responsible supervisor 12 years or older while at the pool, according to the town’s aquatic centre rules.
