The High River & District Chamber of Commerce is launching a community-wide survey on February 6, 2026, to find out what residents and business owners in High River, Alberta, think about local policing and safety. The goal is to collect direct feedback that will help align law enforcement resources (time and funding) with the community’s top public-safety concerns.
This survey specifically looks at how crime affects local shops and the economy, especially after a recorded shift in property crime trends in late 2025. Business owners and residents can share their thoughts on police response times, how often they see officers on the street, and their overall feelings of safety when walking through downtown.
The results are expected to help shape the Town’s 2026 Policing Plan, influencing how resources and responsibilities are allocated between the RCMP and Municipal Enforcement Peace Officers. Mayor Craig Snodgrass has previously noted (in 2025) that hearing from the community is essential to building a better town and ensuring people feel safe.
This effort comes as the provincial government continues to study a potential Alberta police service to replace the current RCMP contract model. People can access the online survey via a link in the Chamber’s ‘Chamber Happenings’ newsletter or complete paper copies available at a kiosk in the Highwood Centre; data collection runs through March 1, 2026.
