Innisfail RCMP arrested a 38-year-old man and recovered a stolen delivery van after a chase west of Innisfail, Alberta, near Highway 22, on June 10, 2026. The van was taken from the Red Deer Resort and Casino parking lot, and the arrest involved help from several RCMP detachments, Alberta RCMP Air Services, and Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services.
Red Deer RCMP first alerted Innisfail RCMP that the van was heading west near Highway 22. That spot is close to where four RCMP areas meet: Innisfail, Sundre, Sylvan Lake, and Rocky Mountain House. Officers from all those detachments worked together to find the van and used a tire deflation device to stop it.
The driver ran away on foot into a wooded rural area. Alberta RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services joined the search, and the suspect was arrested without incident. The stolen van was also recovered.
RCMP identified the suspect as Cody Blunt, 38, from Clearwater County. He faces charges of stealing a motor vehicle, having property obtained by crime, and driving while prohibited. Police also found he had two outstanding warrants for stealing a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000.
After a hearing, Blunt was kept in custody and was scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on June 12.
