Residents in Iroquois Falls, Ontario, are preparing for a change in the weather today, February 9, 2026, as snow and wind replace a stretch of dangerous cold. Environment Canada lifted a yellow Cold Warning for the Timmins–Cochrane–Iroquois Falls region on February 8, 2026 (see Environment Canada alert bulletin), and a new weather system is expected to make travel difficult starting this afternoon.

Environment Canada forecasts snow beginning near noon, with wind gusts up to about 40 kilometres per hour overnight. That mix of steady snow and gusty winds can lead to blowing snow and poor visibility, creating hazardous driving conditions on local roads and highways.

Ontario 511 provides real-time road-condition updates for the region. Local authorities and Environment Canada warn that roads may become slippery and that black ice is possible as conditions change. District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) says it is monitoring the situation under its inclement-weather protocols to help ensure the safety of students and families during their commutes.

Town and provincial road-maintenance crews advise residents to allow extra travel time and to check official updates before heading out. While the extreme cold warning has been lifted, the combination of fresh snow and gusty winds will likely create hazardous conditions through the rest of the day and into the night.
