A 44-year-old resident of Matheson faces criminal charges after being pulled over late at night on February 2, 2026, in Iroquois Falls, Ontario. Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police arrested the driver for operating a vehicle while over the legal blood alcohol limit.
Following the arrest, the driver’s licence was suspended immediately for 90 days. The vehicle involved was also towed away and will be held in an impound lot for seven days.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, these measures are used to quickly remove drivers who have been drinking from local roads. The police have recently increased patrols in the region to address a rise in driving-related safety incidents.
The individual is now expected to answer the charges in person. A court date has been set at the Ontario Court of Justice for March 9, 2026.
