People visiting the Algonquin Visitor Centre and Kearney Lake Campground in Algonquin Provincial Park (Highway 60 corridor), near the Town of Kearney, Ontario, should bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one full minute before using it. Ontario Parks has maintained a boil water advisory that remained in effect as of January 12, 2026 because the water at those taps does not meet provincial standards for direct consumption.

The warning affects the main Visitor Centre hub at kilometre 43 of Highway 60 and Kearney Lake Campground (km 36.5) along the Highway 60 corridor. Visitors should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, and preparing food or infant formula.

Although the drinking water is not safe to use directly from the tap, flush toilets and the Kearney Lake comfort station showers remain open. These advisories are common during seasonal changes when weather or equipment issues can affect the small, localized water treatment systems used throughout the park.

Park officials advise campers to bring enough bottled water to last their stay. For official, up-to-date notices check Ontario Parks’ Algonquin alerts page; The Friends of Algonquin Park also posts community updates and news.
