The Government of Prince Edward Island is providing $194,000 to support 37 wellness projects across the province, including new health initiatives for residents in Kensington, Prince Edward Island. Acting Minister of Health and Wellness Cory Deagle announced the funding on February 25, 2026, to help local groups and schools create programs that focus on physical activity and mental health.

In Kensington, Kensington Intermediate Senior High school will receive a grant to build a new wellness area for its students. This project is part of a provincial effort to give students dedicated spaces to focus on their well-being while at school.

Other organizations in the area are also benefiting from the Live Well PEI program, including the East Prince Women’s Information Centre and the Conseil scolaire-communautaire Evangeline, which is running a health program for Acadian seniors. These community grants provide up to $7,500 for local projects, while school-based grants provide up to $3,000.

Minister Deagle said these projects reflect what wellness looks like in real life by supporting social connections and healthy eating in ways that make sense for local towns. This year’s total funding for the program increased by more than 42 percent compared to the amount provided last year.
