Chief Adam MacIntosh was officially sworn in as the head of the Kingston Police on February 11, 2026, in Kingston, Ontario. He joined the force on January 20, 2026, to take over leadership following the retirement of the previous chief.

MacIntosh spent 25 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police before coming to the city. During his time with the national police force, he reached the rank of Superintendent and gained experience leading officers in various parts of Canada, including British Columbia and Nunavut.

The new chief plans to focus on updating technology for the department, including the use of body-worn cameras. These are small cameras attached to an officer’s uniform that record interactions to help improve transparency and build trust with residents.

Along with technology, MacIntosh told the Kingston Police Services Board he will prioritize officer mental health and wellness. He replaces former Chief Scott Fraser, who retired from the position on December 31, 2025.
