The Kingston Symphony has officially announced its 2026-2027 concert season, bringing a mix of timeless classical performances and modern musical experiences to the community in Kingston, Ontario.
Led by Principal Conductor Evan Mitchell, the professional orchestra will feature classic masterworks throughout the season, including Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. The upcoming lineup also includes unique programming, such as a celebration of Canadian culture with The Hockey Sweater, based on the classic story by Roch Carrier and composed by Abigail Richardson.
The season will highlight the work of Montreal-based composer Maxime Goulet with his Ice Storm Symphony. The piece commemorates the January 1998 ice storm that paralyzed Eastern Canada, leaving more than 4 million people without electricity and causing significant regional damage. The composition is a recognized work, having won the 2024 Juno Award for Best Classical Album in the Large Ensemble category.
For those looking for a different orchestral experience, the symphony is bringing back Symphonic Speedruns. This concert format features a fusion of live video game speedrunning alongside a live orchestral performance of video game music.
Performances will take place at the Kingston Grand Theatre on Princess Street. While subscription packages are available for purchase now, single tickets for the new season will go on sale starting August 24, 2026. Ahead of the new season, the organization is currently hosting a Play it Forward fundraiser with a goal of raising $25,000 by May 31, 2026, to support future programming.
