Kingston, Ontario will start the first week of June with mainly sunny skies and steadily climbing temperatures before rain chances return later in the week, according to Environment Canada.
Monday will be sunny with a high of 22°C and a northeast wind at 20 km/h. The UV index is forecast to reach 6, which is considered high, so residents spending time outdoors should protect their skin.
The summer-like warmth will build through the week. Tuesday is expected to hit 23°C, Wednesday 25°C, and Thursday will be the hottest day at 28°C — well above the early June normal high of 22°C. Overnight lows will start near 8°C Monday night and gradually warm to around 15°C by Thursday and Friday nights; the June normal low is 10°C. No weather alerts are in effect for the Kingston area.
Sunshine is expected to dominate through Thursday, but conditions will begin to change Friday. Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud Friday with a high of 25°C, and there is a 40 percent chance of showers Friday night. Saturday brings a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 percent chance of showers and a high of 24°C, before skies become mixed again Sunday with a high of 25°C.
The UV index is forecast to reach 7 — still in the high range — on Tuesday. Health officials advise using sunscreen, wearing a hat, and seeking shade when the sun is strongest.
