Environment Canada issued a fog alert for Kingston, Ontario, on February 18, 2026, warning that visibility could drop to near-zero in some areas. The advisory was put in place at 5:40 AM and includes the neighbouring communities of Odessa and the Frontenac Islands. Experts expect the fog banks to clear up later this morning as weather conditions change.

This “Yellow Advisory” is part of a colour-coded alert system designed to warn the public about weather that might cause disruptions or hazards. At the time of the warning, the temperature was -1°C with 100 percent humidity, which created the perfect environment for heavy fog to form. Residents are encouraged to use their headlights and maintain a safe following distance while driving until the air clears.

The thick fog was first observed at the Kingston Airport, where visibility dropped significantly. While the facility does not host regular passenger airlines, it remains a busy site for freight services and medical transfers handled by Ornge. The low visibility also affects travel for residents using the Wolfe Island Ferry and drivers travelling along Highway 401.
