The United Way KFL&A has released its funding plan for 2025-2026, directing approximately $1.6 million to community programs in Kingston, Ontario. This investment includes $270,000 from the Community Investment Fund and more than $1.3 million to address homelessness through the federal Reaching Home program.
These grants will help local organizations provide food, shelter, and mental health support to more than 68,000 people in the region every year. The funding follows the record-breaking 2025 fundraising campaign that raised over $4.15 million, surpassing the previous record set in 2024.
Recipients for the 2025-2026 cycle include Martha’s Table, which received $12,500 for its Community Navigator Program to help residents find essential resources. The Bloom Skills Centre was awarded $15,000 to expand its employment development program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Another $25,000 was awarded to Ontario 211 Services to operate a Racism Reporting Service, providing trauma-informed support for those who experience or witness racist incidents. These funding decisions were made by 24 local volunteers who reviewed applications and conducted virtual site visits to ensure funds are directed where they are needed most.
This boost in support arrives as the city addresses a significant rise in chronic homelessness, which more than doubled between 2020 and 2023. Following the success of the 2025 campaign, which exceeded its $4,085,000 goal, the organization continues to adapt to the growing demand for local social services.
