Lacombe Regional Tourism launched its 2026 Winter Wonder Itinerary on February 1, 2026, to help residents and visitors find activities and local shops in Lacombe, Alberta. The guide is designed to encourage people to explore the community during the colder months when visitor numbers typically drop after the fall harvest season ends.

The new list of activities includes several outdoor options, such as ice fishing at Gull Lake and winter trail activities (for example, snowshoeing on nearby trails). According to Lacombe County, the guide references the planned 14-kilometre Gull Lake Regional Trail (construction was announced/planned for 2026). It also highlights the Heritage Cafe Crawl, which encourages people to visit coffee shops and boutiques in the downtown area.

The project is part of a plan to support local businesses and historic sites throughout the entire year. Lacombe Museum locations, including the Michener House and the Blacksmith Shop, are listed as key places to visit. The goal is to keep these landmarks busy so they can remain open and active during the winter season.

Local leaders, including members of the Lacombe Regional Tourism board and municipal representatives, helped organize the new travel routes to support the local economy. They want to show that the region is still a great place to visit even after the summer and autumn festivals are over. Lacombe Regional Tourism says paper “Wonder Maps” of the routes are available for the public to pick up at the Michener House Museum.
