Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Leduc, Alberta, as heavy snow and strong winds are expected to impact the region through February 17, 2026. Forecasters expect between 15 and 30 centimetres of snow to fall, while north winds reaching 70 kilometres per hour will likely cause poor visibility and dangerous travel conditions.

Provincial authorities at 511 Alberta are advising residents to avoid any travel that is not essential until the weather improves. The Government of Alberta is currently managing snow removal on major provincial routes, including Highway 2, Highway 19, Highway 625, and Highway 39, while Leduc County manages local and regional roads.

Within the City of Leduc, crews are prioritizing the busiest main roads and downtown areas first. Residential streets are the fourth and final priority for snow clearing, meaning these neighbourhoods will be addressed after the main transit routes are safe.

Drivers should be aware that any vehicles parked on marked collector roads during snow removal operations will be towed to a nearby cleared street. The city also issues a 250 dollar fine for vehicles that block clearing equipment on these specific routes.
