In December 2025, the City of Leduc, Alberta, published its year-end summary, calling 2025 “a year of growth and renewal.” The report highlights the completion of the 65 Avenue Interchange, a population climb to about 39,500 residents, and the first policy handover under Mayor Lars Hansen and the newly elected council.

The decade-long 65 Avenue project now links Leduc directly to Edmonton International Airport and eases heavy traffic in the city core. The interchange also unlocked space for a major expansion of the Leduc Landing Business Park, supporting new industrial tenants and logistics firms.

The 2025 budget included a 3.5% property tax increase, down from an earlier projection of 5.9%, achieved by absorbing a 2% cut in provincial funding and finding cost savings. The city also secured $7.6 million from the federal Housing Accelerator Fund to fast-track new home construction and curb housing demand.

Internal estimates show Leduc grew by more than 9% since the 2023 municipal census, according to census data. With land for development running out, council plans a boundary expansion process early next year, aiming to add more residential and business land.

City communications noted that “ a blend of experience and fresh perspectives to guide the work ahead.” In 2026, officials say they will focus on integrating housing funds, keeping taxes stable, and advancing infrastructure projects to meet the needs of a fast-growing community.
