A joint operation by Lethbridge police and provincial sheriffs cleared 151 outstanding warrants over three days, resulting in 41 arrests and 49 criminal charges.
The enforcement blitz from May 5 to 7, 2026, saw the Lethbridge Police Service work alongside the Alberta Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team to track down suspects accused of serious offences including sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, commercial break and enters, and drug trafficking.
During the sweep, officers seized 464 doses of fentanyl and multiple weapons. They also stopped 60 instances of open drug use, confiscating those drugs for destruction. Four shoplifters were caught in the act, including one habitual offender, and nearly $600 worth of stolen jeans were recovered and returned.
The operation provided intelligence that advanced 38 investigations, confirming some wanted individuals had already left the city or were no longer linked to known addresses.
This effort ran alongside a separate police initiative targeting crime and social disorder in the downtown core. Lethbridge Police say overall crime in the city dropped 16 percent from 2023 to 2024.
