At the Fleming Branch of the Lincoln Pelham Public Library in Beamsville, ON, free weekly English practice sessions for newcomers and learners will run on Tuesday evenings in January to help recent arrivals improve language skills and learn about local services.
The drop-in English Conversation Circle meets on January 14, 21 and 28, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. No registration is required, and all levels of English are welcome for informal practice in speaking, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation.
The circle aims to lower barriers to social and economic integration by helping participants build confidence, meet others and discover settlement supports such as the YMCA of Niagara Newcomer Services. Library staff and volunteers guide open discussions on weekly topics chosen to spark conversation.
This initiative is part of the library’s 2024–2027 “In Harmony” plan, which prioritizes inclusive programming after the recent merger of the Lincoln and Pelham systems. According to the 2021 Census, the Town of Lincoln’s population increased by 8.1% (2016–2021), and the library saw a 37 per cent increase in program attendance last year.
