The Lincoln Pelham Public Library (LPPL) announced on February 1, 2026 that all kits for its Chopped-style “Valentine Baking Challenge” for teens have been claimed. The program is aimed at local teens ages 12 to 17 in Lincoln, Ontario, and requires participants to create a Valentine-themed dessert using mystery ingredients provided by the library.
Participants pick up a take-home kit at the Fleming Branch (Beamsville) or the Moses F. Rittenhouse Branch (Vineland). Each kit contains three mystery ingredients that must be used, and participants may use additional pantry items from home; contestants submit a photo of their finished dessert to be judged for a prize.
According to LPPL staff, take-home kits have become a successful way to reach teenagers who have busy schedules or limited transportation. The “Chopped”-style baking challenge has been run in previous years (for example, a May 2024 edition) and past mystery ingredients have included items such as pineapple and corn muffin mix.
Because the kits sold out quickly, residents who missed registration are encouraged to check the library’s event pages or contact staff for updates and information about possible waitlist options. Updates and announcements are posted on the library’s Facebook page.
