A fallen power line caused power outages for several neighbourhoods in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, on February 7, 2026. The incident began at about 8:16 a.m. when a sparking line was reported near the Lunenburg Fire Hall at 25 Medway Street.
The outage affected homes and businesses in the historic downtown and waterfront areas. Residents on Bluenose Drive and Montague Street lost power while utility crews worked to address the hazard.
First responders from the Lunenburg and District Fire Department secured a safety zone around the sparking line. Crews from the Town of Lunenburg Electric Utility de-energized the affected section to begin repairs on the municipal grid.
