The Lunenburg Foundation for the Arts (LFA) is bringing movie nights back to town this winter with a 2026 Winter Film Series of special screenings in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The LFA is a volunteer-run, community-funded registered charity that awards grants and bursaries to local artists.

The series is being presented in partnership with Lunenburg Doc Fest and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP). The lineup focuses on documentaries and independent films, and includes Pipe Dreams — a film about organ competitors that will be followed by a live performance on the LAMP organ.

Screenings are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 18, Feb. 15 and Mar. 15, 2026, with the primary venue listed as the Lunenburg Academy (LAMP) at 97 Kaulbach St.

The LFA’s winter program fills a gap left after the closure of Cineplex Cinemas Bridgewater (the Bridgewater Cineplex), which ceased operations in late April 2024, and complements the Lunenburg County Film Series that now hosts screenings at the Astor Theatre in Liverpool. The Winter Film Series tickets are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis with a suggested donation of $10.

According to the Lunenburg Foundation for the Arts, funds raised through their programming support local artists: the organization awards grants and bursaries and states that funds they raise go directly toward supporting projects by emerging and established artists.
