The Lunenburg Curling Club in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, is hosting its annual Lunenburg Youth Spiel from February 6 to February 8, 2026. This three-day event is designed to give youth competing in U12–U18 divisions (roughly ages 12–18) a chance to play in competitive matches while receiving professional coaching.
Approximately 12 to 16 teams from across the province are expected to travel to the club on Green Street for the competition. Visiting rinks have historically come from nearby South Shore clubs such as Bridgewater and Chester. The event runs within Curling Nova Scotia’s provincial coaching and certification framework.
Youth coordinator Dylan Haines is the event lead and helps local players move from basic skills lessons into real game scenarios. The tournament guarantees every team at least three games; teams should register through the Lunenburg Curling Club (contact: lcc.jr.curling@gmail.com or info@curllunenburg.com) or the club website.
The timing of the tournament matches the opening week of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano–Cortina. Club organizers are using the global interest in the sport to help grow the local junior program and attract new families to the rink.
The Town of Lunenburg lists the club among its community organizations. The Lunenburg Curling Club is currently seeking volunteers to help host visitors and support ice operations; families who want to watch the games can do so from the heated glass viewing area in the club lounge.
