Canada Brush Control Ltd., a local vegetation-management contractor based in Papineau-Cameron, cleared heavy debris and fallen trees at the Mattawa River Resort on February 8, 2026, after a recent storm blocked roads in the area. The company’s work helped restore safe access for staff and visitors to the resort near Mattawa, Ontario.

The crew had been scheduled to work on a drainage and regrading project for the Township of Papineau-Cameron before redirecting resources to handle the emergency at the resort. Workers used specialized forestry mulching machines to process downed timber and brush into mulch; the company and regional experts say leaving the organic material on-site can help reduce erosion risk along riverbanks.

According to Canada Brush Control Ltd., using high-efficiency forestry mulching equipment lets crews clear hazards such as partially fallen “widow-maker” trees much faster than relying solely on hand tools. The Mattawa River Resort is an important local tourism hub, and the rapid cleanup helped ensure guests could safely access the property during the winter months.

Grant Browning, president of Canada Brush Control Ltd., said the company’s mulching equipment is designed to convert storm-damaged areas into usable landscapes quickly. He added that private-sector rapid-response teams can provide a critical backup for the community when municipal crews are occupied with other infrastructure repairs after a storm.
