Mattawa Council Approves Audit Committee and Conference Travel

The Town of Mattawa council met on February 9, 2026, at Mattawa Town Hall to finalize municipal oversight and regional representation. During the session, officials adopted Report No. 26-02R to establish the 2026 Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee and approved its terms of reference.

Council also authorized Mayor Raymond A. Bélanger, Councillor Laura Ross, and the CAO/Treasurer to represent the town at the 2026 Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) conference in Timmins. Additionally, the town passed a resolution supporting the steel and lumber sectors following a request from the Township of Nairn and Hyman.
