Residents in Mattawa, Ontario, can now nominate local coaches and volunteers for the 2026 Regional Service Awards. The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) is looking for people who go above and beyond to support youth sports in the community.

The program highlights the work of those involved with the Mattawa Minor Hockey Association, which runs the local Mattawa Rockets teams. Awards are available for categories such as Coach of the Year, Official of the Year, and distinguished service for long-time volunteers.

Most of the town’s hockey activity happens at the Mike Rodden Arena. The building is named after Mike Rodden, a Mattawa native who became a notable referee and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as an on-ice official.

Nominations are due by April 15, 2026, and can be submitted via the NOHA online nomination form or in writing to the NOHA Executive Director (see NOHA contact page for mailing address). The awards are administered by the NOHA, which is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF); the program sits within the provincial award framework overseen by the OHF and recognizes the people who spend their time managing ice schedules and coaching local children.
