Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Milton, Ontario, warning that several hours of freezing rain and snow will arrive on the morning of Wednesday, February 18, 2026. This weather system is expected to bring between 5 and 10 millimetres of ice build-up and about 5 centimetres of snow, leading to hazardous travel and potential power outages.
Crews from Milton Public Works will prioritize clearing major roads and bus routes to keep traffic moving safely. Residential side streets will be plowed once the main routes are clear, which may take longer depending on the severity of the ice.
Service for Milton Transit may be delayed or changed as conditions get worse throughout the day. Residents are encouraged to check for real-time bus updates by using the TransitTracker app before heading out.
Milton Hydro is reminding residents to stay at least 10 metres away from any downed power lines and report any outages immediately. The heavy ice build-up can cause tree branches to break and damage utility lines, causing local electricity failures.
Residents who need information about emergency services or warming centres can call 311 to speak with the Halton Region. This line can also be used to report damage to trees or local property caused by the storm.
