All schools in Milton, Ontario, are closed and bus services are cancelled today, January 26, 2026, because of severe inclement winter weather and unsafe road conditions. The Halton District School Board announced the full system closure early Monday morning, which affects all students, staff, and school offices.

High school exams that were supposed to happen today are now postponed to a later date. For instance, Milton District High School has updated its calendar to move the tests originally set for today to Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Schools will send specific details about new times directly to families through email (SchoolMessenger) and their websites.

Halton Student Transportation Services confirmed that all bus routes are cancelled in Milton, which is designated as Zone 2 in their inclement-weather zone map. The cancellation also applies to students who travel between towns for specialized programs: if transportation is cancelled in any zone a route passes through, buses will not run for that student that day.

Following HDSB policy for full-system closures, neither in-person supervision nor e-learning (live online classes) is provided on board-wide closure days. Food-service availability is determined by individual schools; for example, Milton District High School’s cafeteria servery is closed Jan. 20–30. The Director of Education (or the Director’s designate), in consultation with Halton Student Transportation Services and based on local weather and road reports, communicated the closure decision by 6:30 a.m.

Families should expect exam-specific rescheduling details from their child’s school and may also monitor the HDSB website and SchoolMessenger for updates.
