Students at Bishop P.F. Reding Secondary School in Milton, Ontario, are following a revised exam schedule after a winter storm forced the Halton Catholic District School Board to close all schools and administrative centres on Monday, January 26, 2026. Heavy snow and hazardous road conditions across the region led officials to cancel in-person classes and transportation for the day to keep families and staff safe.

The Halton Catholic District School Board confirmed that exams scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, will be written on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, and that the remainder of the exam week will be shifted forward by one day. The board’s standard “shift forward” protocol prevents students from being required to write more than one exam in a day or missing a course’s final assessment.

The closure followed assessments of road conditions by Halton Student Transportation Services (HSTS). Per HSTS operating procedures, bus operators and managers assess routes overnight and, by around 6:00 a.m., HSTS informs the boards if transportation is cancelled; the Directors of Education then determine whether schools should close. The disruption affects approximately 2,000 students at Bishop Reding and requires coordination of transportation, teacher supervision and specialized accommodations for students with special education needs.

School staff will share exam-specific details, classroom assignments and supervision information directly with families using the board’s usual communication channels, including school and board websites, email and social media. Parents are encouraged to monitor those channels for any further updates about bus routes or morning procedures for the remainder of the week.
