Residents in Milton, Ontario, will gather on February 28, 2026, for the Coldest Night of the Year walk to support local families facing housing crises. The annual event raises money for Milton Transitional Housing, an organization that provides housing and support for people in the community who do not have a permanent place to live.

As of February 17, 2026, the campaign has reached 47 per cent of its $80,000 goal, with $38,375 raised so far. Organizers are working to surpass the $73,573 raised during the 2024 event to ensure they can keep providing essential services through the rest of the year.

According to Milton Transitional Housing, the funds pay for rent and utility bills, such as heat and lights, as well as emergency groceries for families. The organization runs a two-year program that provides bridge housing and counseling to help people move into living on their own.

The walk begins at the Milton Sports Centre and includes 2km and 5km route options to represent the challenges of being outside during the winter. Local businesses, including Tim Hortons Milton and StressCrete Group, are sponsoring the event, which is led by event director Donna Danielli.
