Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Milton, Ontario, as a brief but intense snow event is expected to hit the area on March 13, 2026. Drivers should prepare for quickly changing conditions and hazardous travel starting late this morning and lasting through the afternoon.

The weather system is forecast to bring snow at rates of 2 to 4 centimetres per hour, with total accumulations reaching between 5 and 8 centimetres. This rapid snowfall is expected to make roads and sidewalks very slippery for commuters throughout the day.

As temperatures rise above the freezing mark later this afternoon, the snow will likely turn into rain showers. The intensity of the snowfall is expected to decrease as the transition to rain occurs.

Residents should be aware that temperatures are forecast to drop again overnight. This change could lead to icy surfaces on roads and sidewalks, creating more hazards for those traveling after the sun goes down.
