Residents in Minto, Ontario, will have easier access to low-barrier health services this month as Sanguen Health Centre’s Community Health Van travels to Palmerston and Harriston. Sanguen posted its February 2026 schedule on Feb. 4, 2026, listing several stops where people can access nursing care, testing and social supports without an appointment.
The van operates as a drop-in mobile clinic, offering services such as nursing care (including wound treatment), vaccinations, sexual-health testing, and harm-reduction supplies and supports. Sanguen and 211 Ontario say the interdisciplinary team typically includes a Registered Nurse, a social support worker (or social support coordinator) and peer workers who can help with testing and provide basic supplies such as hygiene items.
The service is designed to help people who may find it difficult to travel to the Minto Rural Health Centre or to secure a family doctor in the rural area. In Palmerston, the van will stop at the Lion’s Heritage Pavilion or The Grove (390 Main St. E.), while in Harriston it will be parked at the Harriston Food Bank parking lot (68 Elora St. S.).
While the Wellington Advertiser has noted that local health centres provide a central hub for care, the mobile van helps reach people who cannot easily get to a clinic. Town officials, including Mayor Dave Turton, have previously said that bringing services directly into the community is important for the health and growth of the town.
Residents looking for specific dates and times for the van stops can find more information through Minto Mental Health Outreach Services and Sanguen’s website and social channels. Sanguen says the van provides a safe, low-barrier space for people needing nursing care, harm-reduction supplies and simple social supports.
